The organism producing tuberin, designated 10-101 in our culture collection, was isolated from a soil sample collected in Amakusa Island in Japan.
This paper describes taxonomic studies of the organism. Fermentation, isolation and characterization of the antibiotic, chemical structure as well as synthesis of tuberin have heed described elsewhere.1,2,3)
