Abstract

Selection standards based on production history have not yet been clarified, and the target farmers hope to improve based on theoretical values. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to improve on previous studies, present farm- and breed-specific culling criteria in breeding pigs, and identify the sources of inter-farm differences. In order to achieve this goal, this research constructed a mathematical model to explain the breeding records and performed multiple regression analysis. Selection criteria were considered based on the coefficient results. The selection criterion was determined from the weight at birth and at weaning. By comparing the coefficient results and the national average, and examining differences between farms, it is essential to increase the number of pigs per litter.
